Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and test firmware for optical line system products such as ROADM, EDFA, and Raman systems.
- Develop and maintain firmware requirements and design documentation.
- Collaborate with optical, hardware, FPGA, software, manufacturing, and test teams on product integration.
- Provide knowledge transfer for manufacturing processes.
- Debug and resolve customer issues.
- Contribute to testing documentation and product quality and compliance activities.
- Participate in design reviews and provide architectural input.
- Improve firmware development processes and methodologies.
Requirements
- BE/BTech or ME/MTech in Computer Science, Electronics and Communications Engineering, or a related field.
- 3 to 5 years of embedded software development experience in a multithreaded real-time environment.
- Strong C/C++ programming, system understanding, debugging, and troubleshooting skills.
- Hands-on experience developing firmware and participating in requirements gathering, design reviews, and test-plan reviews.
- Experience using traffic generators and JTAG debuggers.
- Proficiency with Linux and C/C++ in embedded, microcontroller-based systems.
- Experience developing device drivers for Linux or real-time operating systems.
- Knowledge of I²C, SPI, Ethernet, and PCIe hardware interfaces and protocols.
- Hands-on experience with hardware bring-up and the U-Boot bootloader.
- Familiarity with RTOS environments such as FreeRTOS and ThreadX.
- Basic understanding of electronics schematics and hardware design.
- Experience collaborating with geographically distributed teams.
- Preferred experience with scripting languages, Zynq and ARM processors, firmware requirements and design documentation, optical engineering concepts, and AI tools such as Cursor, Gemini, and Copilot.
