Responsibilities
- Develop critical operating system and low-level components for the Kindle e-reader family.
- Build applications on the Kindle operating system using C/C++ and React Native.
- Design and architect secure software that protects customer data stored on devices.
- Improve device performance, security, power optimization, and developer enablement.
- Collaborate with technical teams across Amazon to design and deliver new e-reader capabilities.
- Guide junior engineers and collaborate with experienced engineers on innovative components.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of non-internship professional software development experience.
- At least 2 years of experience designing or architecting new and existing systems, including design patterns, reliability, and scaling.
- Programming experience with at least one software programming language.
- Proficiency in C/C++ for understanding e-reader internals.
- Preferred: at least 3 years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
- Preferred: bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent.
- React Native experience is preferred.
