Responsibilities
- Configure and maintain SAS components on the new platform to support model onboarding.
- Support the operational lifecycle of analytical and risk models, including publishing, versioning, deployment, and scoring workflows.
- Manage SAS platform artefacts such as libraries, caslib-equivalent structures, folders, authorisations, and access controls.
- Collaborate with modelers to troubleshoot model execution, data access, and environment configuration issues.
- Use SAS CLI and existing automation frameworks for routine tasks and semi-automated deployment flows.
- Monitor SAS-related services, analyse logs, identify bottlenecks, and propose corrective actions.
- Manage SAS platform configuration outside the Kubernetes infrastructure maintained by a separate team.
- Improve operational procedures, documentation, and the modelling-team knowledge base.
- Ensure compliance with internal standards for security, confidentiality, integrity, and stability.
- Participate in stand-ups, refinements, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
Requirements
- Experience administering SAS environments such as SAS 9 or SAS Viya 3.5.
- Understanding of configuring, operating, and maintaining SAS components used by modelling teams.
- Ability to support modelers with analytical or risk model publishing, deployment, and troubleshooting.
- Working knowledge of SAS CLI, basic scripting, and existing automation patterns.
- Ability to perform root-cause analysis for model execution, platform configuration, and user-workflow issues.
- Basic knowledge of Azure, including Azure DevOps pipelines and Azure SQL DB, with willingness to develop further.
- Ability to interpret logs, diagnose issues, and collaborate with platform engineers on deeper infrastructure support.
- Familiarity with CI/CD concepts and strong written and spoken English communication skills.
- Preferred knowledge of Azure SQL, ADLS, Azure Fabric, or other analytics components.
- Preferred experience supporting users in analytical or modelling environments and operating databases such as Oracle or Azure SQL.
- Understanding of general security standards, access control, and data governance is advantageous.
- Reliable, proactive, collaborative, and eager to learn and continuously improve the platform.
