Responsibilities
- Define and influence the direction of a small team using subject-matter expertise in target tracking and state estimation.
- Architect, maintain, refactor, and evolve complex production software systems.
- Prototype and deploy algorithms for tracking, multi-sensor data fusion, and state estimation.
- Develop high-performance Rust software for real-time systems, simulations, and decision-support tools.
- Design filters, estimators, and probabilistic reasoning systems for noisy or incomplete sensor data.
- Apply software design patterns and architectural best practices to manage technical debt.
- Analyze system performance with high-fidelity simulations, modeling tools, and statistical techniques.
- Customize algorithms and software for mission-critical real-time tracking and sensor-fusion use cases.
- Integrate tracking and estimation technologies throughout requirements, testing, and optimization lifecycles.
- Communicate technical progress and actionable insights to colleagues, stakeholders, and end-users.
Requirements
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience and a bachelor's degree in mathematics, physics, engineering, or another technical field.
- At least 2+ years working on a single codebase or product while maintaining and expanding it as requirements evolved.
- Demonstrated experience managing production software architecture, refactoring legacy systems, and managing technical debt.
- Strong understanding of software design patterns, architectural principles, and maintainable, scalable system development.
- Proficiency in algorithm design, software development, and statistical modeling; Rust, C/C++, Python, and Matlab experience is a plus.
- Understanding of linear algebra, optimization, probability, stochastic processes, signal processing, estimation theory, adaptive filtering, controls, and complex signal environments.
- Familiarity with big data pipelines, NoSQL databases, and efficient handling of large-scale sensor data.
- Ability to work across development lifecycles from prototyping through production optimization.
- Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
- Preferred experience includes modernizing production Rust codebases, making architectural decisions, providing technical leadership, and contributing to open-source Rust projects.
- Preferred experience includes concurrent and parallel Rust programming, Bayesian filtering, sensor fusion, recursive estimation, machine learning for tracking and recognition, and Kalman, particle, JPDA, MHT, or PHD filters.
