Responsibilities
- Own and contribute to the architecture and development of enterprise Java applications.
- Provide technical guidance on design and implementation across distributed UK, European, nearshore, and offshore teams.
- Develop enterprise applications across client and server components using Java, Java EE/Jakarta EE, Eclipse RCP, SWT, JFace, and WildFly.
- Modernize legacy forensic systems and design modular, scalable, maintainable, and high-performance platforms.
- Design and optimize backend services, data models, integration logic, and high-performance processing using PostgreSQL, JPA/Hibernate, JPQL, and CriteriaBuilder.
- Develop and maintain automated build, deployment, and release processes using Git, Azure DevOps, Docker, Maven, and Eclipse Tycho.
- Perform testing, performance profiling, JVM tuning, and continuous improvement in collaboration with QA.
- Support team mobilization, onboarding, training, knowledge transfer, and communication between business and IT teams.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in enterprise Java development and DevOps practices.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or master's degree in Computer Science, or equivalent.
- Proven experience in software architecture and hands-on development.
- Strong experience with Java 11/17, Java EE/Jakarta EE, Eclipse RCP, SWT, JFace, PostgreSQL, and WildFly Application Server.
- Experience with object-oriented development, design patterns, Clean Code, application modularization, legacy system evolution, JPA/Hibernate, JPQL, and CriteriaBuilder.
- Experience with Git-based workflows, Azure DevOps, Docker, Maven, Eclipse Tycho, and automated build and release processes.
- Experience working in regulated or complex operational environments such as forensics or LIMS is preferred.
- Strong collaboration, analytical problem-solving, written and spoken English, attention to detail, flexibility, and teamwork skills.
