Forward Deployed Engineer
Thought MachineResponsibilities
- Embed with client engineering teams to deliver working implementations of Thought Machine Vault products from design through production readiness.
- Own the technical success of assigned client engagements and act as the client’s technical point of contact.
- Translate business requirements into technical delivery plans with client architects, engineers, and programme leads.
- Write production-quality Python or Go code for integrations, tooling, data pipelines, core product contributions, and extensions.
- Debug and resolve issues across distributed systems, databases, messaging systems, container orchestration, and cloud infrastructure.
- Design solutions covering high availability, disaster recovery, capacity planning, security, and operational readiness.
- Contribute to internal tooling, frameworks, and reusable delivery patterns.
- Support presales through technical questions, proof-of-concept implementations, and feasibility demonstrations.
- Advise clients on Vault implementation and broader system design.
- Communicate client feedback, pain points, and feature requests to product and engineering teams.
Requirements
- Strong hands-on experience with Python or Go and the ability to iterate on ambiguous client requirements.
- Working knowledge of Linux/Unix, Kubernetes, databases such as PostgreSQL, and messaging systems such as Kafka.
- Practical production deployment and operations experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Demonstrated experience working directly with external clients or partners in a technical delivery capacity.
- Experience delivering technical projects end-to-end, including edge cases, rollback plans, and operability concerns.
- Banking or financial services experience covering retail banking, payments, ledgers, or regulatory environments is desirable.
- Cloud architecture certification such as AWS Solutions Architect, GCP Professional Cloud Architect, or Azure Solutions Architect Expert is desirable.
- Additional programming languages and equivalent cloud architecture certifications are welcomed.
