Fullstack Software Engineer, Robot Interfaces

Responsibilities
- Own interfaces used to set up, calibrate, operate, monitor, review, and debug robots.
- Design unified workflows for preparation, troubleshooting, handoffs, feedback, and live robot operation.
- Build safety-oriented interfaces with clear state, obvious failures, and predictable degraded-network behavior.
- Develop realtime video, robot-state, and control experiences, including integration with controllers, headsets, pedals, and sensors.
- Define what runs locally versus in cloud control planes for safety, latency, identity, state, and coordination.
- Deploy and version software across on-premises, on-device, lab, warehouse, and partner-site environments.
- Instrument interfaces and operations to identify lost time and measure workflow improvements.
- Gather requirements, prioritize work, define success metrics, ship products, and drive adoption directly with users.
Requirements
- Strong fullstack experience building production web applications and APIs, especially with React, TypeScript, and Python.
- Experience with realtime web systems including WebRTC, WebSockets, streaming video, state synchronization, and related debugging.
- Comfort with binary wire formats and schema-defined interfaces such as protobuf and gRPC.
- Experience shipping software to machines the engineer does not administer, including on-premises or on-device deployment, degraded-network operation, and fleet versioning.
- Strong UX instincts for high-stakes, high-frequency interfaces where physical mistakes have consequences.
- Experience designing workflows that integrate people, hardware, and software as one system.
- Strong product judgment and experience working directly with users amid ambiguous workflows and evolving requirements.
- Preferred experience as a founder or early employee, or demonstrated ability to solve difficult problems end to end.
- Preferred experience with teleoperation, robotics, safety-critical or industrial systems, hardware-adjacent software, firmware, embedded systems, device integration, workflow, dispatch, or scheduling systems.
- Experience with React, TypeScript, Python, Postgres, GCP, and Kubernetes is a plus.
