Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend solutions for retail stores.
- Own technical initiatives from problem definition and architecture through delivery and rollout.
- Set technical direction and make trade-off decisions for backend systems.
- Design and implement APIs connecting mobile applications with backend services.
- Use Azure cloud services and Azure Functions to improve scalability, reliability, and performance.
- Conduct code reviews, pair with engineers, lead design discussions, and mentor teammates.
- Collaborate with product managers, business engineers, frontend engineers, portfolio brands, and H&M Brand teams.
- Contribute to product requirements, development, testing, rollout, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- At least 5–8 years of experience as a backend-focused software engineer.
- Demonstrated experience leading technical initiatives, mentoring engineers, or serving as a technical lead.
- Proficiency in C# and .NET.
- Proficiency in Azure concepts and native development with Azure Functions.
- Experience with always-up concepts and message queuing.
- Experience building CI/CD pipelines with Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
- Experience with Kubernetes and Docker.
- Experience with databases such as Cosmos DB.
- Familiarity with backend testing, code quality, reliability, and performance practices.
- POS, payment, checkout, and SignalR experience is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, collaboration, and technical planning skills.
- Ability to work with ambiguity and explain technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Familiarity with Agile development and a continuous learning mindset.
