Responsibilities
- Build and operate backend systems at scale for lending systems.
- Own the technical direction of a business-critical domain.
- Design, decompose, and operate production microservices.
- Design relational schemas, tune queries, and work with NoSQL or caching stores.
- Build and operate event-driven systems with partitioning, ordering, consumer lag management, replay, and idempotent consumers.
- Own containerized deployments, orchestration, and CI/CD processes.
- Own production observability and SLOs, participate in on-call work, and lead incidents to resolution.
- Apply distributed-systems design, data structures, algorithms, and design patterns.
- Use AI coding tools such as Claude and Cursor to ship production software with sound judgment.
- Produce actionable design documents, RFCs, and post-mortems.
Requirements
- 9–12 years of experience building and operating backend systems at scale.
- A track record as the technical owner of a business-critical domain.
- Strong hands-on Java experience with Spring Boot or equivalent, plus fluency in a second programming language.
- Deep experience designing, decomposing, and operating multi-service estates in production.
- Strong relational database skills including schema design and query tuning with MySQL or PostgreSQL.
- Practical experience with NoSQL or caching stores such as Redis, MongoDB, or DynamoDB.
- Production experience with event-driven systems using Kafka or an equivalent broker.
- Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes or equivalent orchestration, CI/CD ownership, and AWS or an equivalent cloud.
- Production observability and on-call experience, including ownership of an SLO and incident leadership.
- Strong understanding of distributed-systems design and trade-offs, with command of data structures, algorithms, and design patterns.
- Demonstrated daily use of AI coding tools such as Claude and Cursor in production software development.
- Clear written communication through design documents, RFCs, and post-mortems.
