Responsibilities
- Maintain and evolve the Omnibus GitLab package for reliable self-managed deployments.
- Develop and improve GitLab Helm Charts for better integration and scalability.
- Enhance the GitLab Environment Toolkit and related tools for secure lifecycle management.
- Improve installation and upgrade workflows for a consistent customer experience.
- Partner with Security to address vulnerabilities in the deployment stack.
- Build and maintain automation and CI/CD pipelines for deployment tooling.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate new features and improve reliability.
- Guide architectural direction and mentor backend engineers.
Requirements
- Experience operating backend services in production environments.
- Proficiency in Go for building resilient services, with knowledge of Ruby as a plus.
- Hands-on experience with infrastructure as code tools like Terraform.
- Knowledge of database design and operations, especially with PostgreSQL.
- Familiarity with secure and reliable deployment practices.
- Experience with observability tools like Prometheus and Grafana.
- Ability to work effectively in large codebases and across distributed teams.
- Openness to transferable experience from related backend or infrastructure roles.
