Base Salary

$105k - $235k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and evolution of backend platform services, APIs, middleware, runtimes, and integration frameworks across OCI.
  • Define API versioning, lifecycle, deprecation, interoperability, backward-compatibility, migration, and safe-rollout strategies.
  • Establish shared observability, resilience, SLO, error-budget, monitoring, and capacity-planning practices across services.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex cross-service, API, integration, maintenance, and customer-reported issues and implement durable fixes.
  • Influence architecture and technical decisions through design reviews, code reviews, technical guidance, and hands-on engineering.
  • Conduct software design, coding, debugging, testing, performance profiling, optimization, and secure development.
  • Create migration guides, adoption playbooks, documentation, and examples to support platform adoption.
  • Mentor engineers, coach less experienced developers, improve engineering practices, and participate in candidate interviews and hiring recommendations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least 7 years of professional software-engineering experience with demonstrated impact on backend, platform, or cloud services.
  • Strong experience designing highly available, scalable distributed systems and evolving production APIs or platform interfaces.
  • Proficiency in one or more object-oriented or systems programming languages such as Java, C++, C#, or Go.
  • Deep understanding of distributed systems, object-oriented design, data structures, algorithms, and secure software-development practices.
  • Demonstrated experience leading or influencing architecture and technical design across teams.
  • Preferred experience with microservices, SDKs, RESTful APIs, containers, cloud-native deployments, developer-platform products, SLOs, observability, API interoperability, migrations, platform adoption, and engineering mentorship.
  • Strong ownership, judgment in ambiguous environments, and clear written and verbal communication skills.
