Base Salary

$197k - $345k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Lead technical design and end-to-end delivery of observability features from architecture through production operation.
  • Drive cross-team alignment on data ingestion, query performance, cost boundaries, instrumentation, access control, and telemetry onboarding.
  • Define integrations between Unified Observability, existing Salesforce products, and telemetry sources.
  • Use AI tools for code generation, refactoring, testing, code review, debugging, and engineering investigations.
  • Build internal tooling and agents for PR triage, on-call runbooks, log analysis, and capacity planning.
  • Raise engineering quality through technical mentorship, design reviews, written communication, and team-practice improvements.
  • Partner with Product Management and help shape hiring, engineering culture, and technical strategy.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of software engineering experience and 3+ years in a technical leadership or principal-level role.
  • Hands-on experience with Claude Code or similar agentic coding environments and sound judgment when reviewing AI-generated work.
  • Deep proficiency in Java, including API design, data modeling, and service-layer architecture.
  • Hands-on front-end and UI development experience with React or Lightning Web Components.
  • Experience operating distributed, multi-tenant systems at scale with observability and streaming systems such as OpenTelemetry, Kafka, HBase, ClickHouse, or equivalent time-series databases.
  • Experience with dashboarding using Grafana and familiarity with OpenTelemetry, OCSF, collectors, semantic conventions, instrumentation libraries, and PromQL.
  • Preferred experience with observability, monitoring, telemetry pipelines, SRE/on-call tooling, incident response, high-cardinality metrics, distributed tracing, log aggregation, and large-scale data-visualization UIs.
  • Preferred experience leading technical strategy across platform and product organizations, including capacity planning and cross-team dependency management.
  • Demonstrated ability to decompose product requirements into parallel workstreams, drive execution, mentor senior engineers, and build consensus.
