Responsibilities
- Build and operate backend platform services for API access, Kafka event routing, workflow execution, machine identity, and immutable audit records.
- Design durable event-driven workflows using Kafka and Temporal or similar orchestration technology.
- Implement pluggable secrets-management and cloud KMS abstractions with envelope encryption, customer-level cryptographic isolation, and bring-your-own-key support.
- Build capability-grant enforcement for customers, workflows, operations, and service-to-service requests.
- Own GitOps-based deployment pipelines for versioned workflows across isolated customer environments.
- Develop identity provisioning, compliance configuration, customer key-management onboarding, and secure third-party API connector services.
- Improve observability, performance, failure recovery, operational readiness, and production incident response.
Requirements
- Production experience building and operating backend services with Go or Rust.
- Experience designing event-driven systems with Kafka or similar technologies, including retries, idempotency, replay, and at-least-once delivery.
- Experience implementing authentication and authorization with OAuth 2.0, OIDC, token lifecycle management, or fine-grained access controls.
- Experience implementing encryption or key-management solutions using cloud KMS platforms, envelope encryption, or key-hierarchy designs.
- Experience operating multi-tenant production systems with structured logging, metrics, distributed tracing, and incident-response practices.
- Preferred experience with Temporal, identity platforms such as Zitadel, Keycloak, Auth0, or Okta, and ClickHouse or similar audit-focused data stores.
- Preferred experience with GitOps, CI/CD, Kubernetes, infrastructure-as-code, MSP/PSA/RMM or Microsoft 365 APIs, compliance-regulated environments, and AWS, Azure, or GCP.
Benefits
- Full-time employment in Toronto.
- Base salary range of CAD $160,000–$240,000 per year.
- Certain roles are eligible for benefits and additional rewards based on individual impact.
