Base Salary

Responsibilities
- Validate automated assessment results, including component inventories, technology versions, dependencies, interfaces, data flows, and false positives.
- Read and assess legacy source code across .NET Framework, .NET/C#, Java, ColdFusion, JavaScript front ends, stored procedures, and scheduled jobs.
- Evaluate code quality, maintainability, test coverage, framework and library currency, end-of-support exposure, and technical debt using tools such as SonarQube and expert review.
- Assess database design, architecture, cloud readiness, authentication, configuration management, session handling, hosting dependencies, and cross-application data access.
- Recommend application dispositions and modernization pathways, define target architectures, and develop effort estimates, dependencies, and sequencing constraints.
- Lead technical interviews and code walkthroughs, document traceable findings for client deliverables, and participate in working sessions with application and operations teams.
- Own application or business-domain assessments end to end, define repeatable modernization patterns, calibrate estimating models, and coach engineers on assessment and documentation standards.
- Feed confirmed assessment patterns and corrections back to the AI & Automation team.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, information systems, computer engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 3-6 years of software development experience.
- Professional software engineering experience with C#/.NET and/or Java, including maintaining, enhancing, or modernizing existing applications.
- Strong SQL skills and experience with relational databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, or PostgreSQL.
- Ability to quickly understand and assess unfamiliar or poorly documented codebases.
- Understanding of web application architecture, APIs, authentication, and deployment.
- Hands-on experience with AWS and/or Azure, including compute, networking, storage, identity, and monitoring services.
- Infrastructure-as-Code experience with Terraform, Bicep, or CloudFormation; container experience with Docker; and working knowledge of Kubernetes.
- Knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, load balancing, firewalls, private connectivity, Linux, Windows Server, and scripting with PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
- Experience with Git-based development and version control and strong structured written documentation skills.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a federal Secret-level security clearance.
- Must be comfortable working in person as needed in the Washington, DC area.
- Preferred qualifications include Azure Government or AWS GovCloud experience, FedRAMP High environments, Ansible, production Kubernetes with AKS, EKS, or OpenShift, FinOps practices, and relevant cloud or Kubernetes certifications.
- Preferred qualifications also include expertise in written and visual communication products and strong written and oral communication skills.

- Base salary ranges from $102,500 to $187,900 in most U.S. locations, with higher ranges for specified metropolitan and California offices.

- The role requires in-person work as needed in the Washington, DC area.
