Responsibilities
- Build and enhance cloud platform security guardrails and Open Policy Agent policies for security checks and standards.
- Develop Financial Operations dashboarding and reporting, plus automation for cloud cleanup, alerting, cost avoidance, and cost reduction.
- Work with the Platform Engineering team on monitoring and remediation tooling and real backlog items.
- Contribute to platform engineering governance controls, IAM or permission-boundary automation, cost anomaly detection, and tagging or chargeback tooling.
Requirements
- Be a rising senior or second-year graduate student graduating in December 2027 or May/August 2028.
- Be actively enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program, preferably in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Have coursework or project experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS, and exposure to Python scripting.
- Have basic security or cost-management knowledge; exposure to Terraform, infrastructure as code, or policy-as-code tools is a plus.
- Experience with Claude Code is a plus.
- Demonstrate strong analytical skills, comfort with ambiguity, and interest in cloud security, FinOps, and automation.
Benefits
- Year-round internship from January 2027 through December 2027 with a 1,000-hour maximum.
- Hybrid Chicago work program requiring at least 3 days per week in an OCC office, with Tuesday and Wednesday as anchor days and generally up to 2 remote days per week.
- Interns may work up to 20 hours per week during the school year and up to 40 hours per week during summer; overtime is not permitted.
- Interns are eligible only for paid sick leave accrued based on hours worked, with no other benefits or technology stipend.
- The position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
