Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate .NET services on Azure from initial commit through production support.
- Build asynchronous, event-driven flows that handle partial failures, timeouts, retries, ordering, idempotency, poison messages, and duplicate delivery.
- Work across payments, FX, ledgers, reconciliation, bank and scheme integrations, FIX connectivity, payment compliance, and the client portal.
- Integrate with banking partners and payment schemes, including undocumented integration requirements.
- Make, document, and defend architectural decisions for the assigned domain.
- Build security, availability, reliability, and observability into services and instrument them with Grafana and Application Insights.
- Use AI tooling such as Claude Code with sound judgment.
- Review code, raise engineering standards, and support the development of less experienced engineers.
Requirements
- Substantial experience with .NET and running owned services in production.
- Production experience with cloud platforms, preferably Azure; AWS or GCP experience is also valuable.
- Experience with asynchronous and event-driven systems, including idempotency, ordering, retries, poison messages, and duplicate delivery.
- Experience designing for security, availability, reliability, and observability in regulated systems.
- Real-world experience building software with AI tooling.
- Strong SQL Server skills, including query and schema work under production load.
- Strong familiarity with code-first ORMs; EF Core experience is beneficial.
- Strong testing instincts and the ability to identify what code is protected against.
- Experience working in regulated environments where changes to money movement require evidence.
- Clear communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders and the ability to make and commit to decisions.
- Payment processing, double-entry ledgers, FX products and pricing, reconciliation, payment compliance, bank or scheme integrations, and FIX protocol or market connectivity are useful but not required.
