Responsibilities
- Drive the technical vision for the Product Eligibility team’s owned domain.
- Build and maintain large-scale distributed systems supporting Wise’s transfer, payout, partner integration, and product eligibility capabilities.
- Design, deploy, and maintain RESTful APIs and backend platform services.
- Contribute to platform capabilities, back-office tooling, and customer-facing flows.
- Improve systems for capturing and validating customer residence, present location, and address information.
- Design database schemas, optimize queries, and work with relational and non-relational databases.
- Write testable code, participate in code reviews, and follow test-driven development and other coding best practices.
- Collaborate with product managers, analysts, engineers, and other teams to prioritize customer-focused, data-driven improvements.
Requirements
- Experience working with large-scale distributed systems.
- Several years of Java 8 or later experience.
- Experience with relational and non-relational databases, query optimization, and schema design.
- Experience designing, deploying, and maintaining RESTful APIs.
- A strong product mindset with a focus on customer experience and data-driven decision-making.
- Experience collaborating with others to solve complex problems.
- Commitment to clean, testable code, code reviews, open feedback, and test-driven development.
- Experience with Spring Boot, Kafka, or backend-for-frontends is preferred.

- Starting salary of £68,000–£87,500 per year.
