Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable, fault-tolerant, and observable infrastructure for OnStar customer experiences and backend services.
- Drive configuration management, infrastructure refactoring, and testing framework adoption to improve resilience.
- Improve service reliability, deployment safety, incident response, reliability standards, and on-call practices.
- Develop observability using Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, automated alerting, and actionable SLO dashboards.
- Manage blameless postmortems and root cause analysis to eliminate recurring failures.
- Lead or contribute to cross-functional infrastructure and organizational tooling projects.
- Mentor engineers and promote operational excellence, extreme ownership, privacy engineering, data retention, and safety certification tooling initiatives.
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience in SRE, DevOps, or systems engineering, including mentoring and project-level technical leadership.
- Experience building and maintaining high-scale, cloud-native systems, preferably on AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Expertise with Kubernetes, container orchestration, deployment strategies, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Proficiency in Python, Go, or Java, with strong code review and code readability practices.
- Experience leading cross-functional infrastructure projects, configuration strategy, or organizational tooling initiatives.
- Ability to debug live incidents and balance uptime and cost trade-offs under pressure.
- Strong communication, influencing, mentoring, and cross-functional leadership skills.
- Familiarity with privacy engineering, data security, or compliance frameworks is preferred.
