Responsibilities

  • Maintain and strategically modernize high-throughput C/C++ payment-processing systems handling real-time financial transactions.
  • Migrate a core Windows C++ authorization gateway to Linux using Clang and Bazel.
  • Develop and maintain integrations with third-party payment gateways including Chase Paymentech, Barclays, HSBC, AMEX, Adyen, Braintree, Klarna, and Shift4.
  • Decompose legacy IPC frameworks into gRPC services for reuse across the payments ecosystem.
  • Implement encryption, PCI-compliant handling, and other security-critical payment features.
  • Optimize transaction-processing performance and latency while maintaining reliable payment flows.
  • Incrementally modernize legacy C++ using RAII, ownership semantics, and safe string handling.
  • Design unit, integration, and fuzz tests for security-critical components.
  • Debug and resolve production issues, support gateway onboarding, and participate in the production payment-system on-call rotation.
  • Ensure compliance with PCI-DSS and other financial-industry standards.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of professional C++ development experience in production environments.
  • Strong modern C++ skills and systems-programming knowledge covering memory management, concurrency, performance optimization, undefined behavior, debugging, and cross-compilation.
  • Experience with Bazel, Linux/Unix environments, legacy codebases, platform migrations, performance profiling, and shared memory or IPC frameworks.
  • Experience or strong interest in payment processing or financial transaction systems, including payment gateway integrations such as Chase Paymentech, Braintree, Adyen, or similar.
  • Deep knowledge of security best practices, PCI-DSS implementation, encryption, OpenSSL or cryptographic libraries, and sensitive-data handling.
  • Understanding of HTTP/HTTPS protocols, RESTful API design, gRPC or service decomposition, and Kafka or other event-streaming platforms.
  • Rust experience or genuine interest in learning Rust.
  • Proficiency with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude and Codex, plus awareness of AI-powered code review and static-analysis tools.
  • Ability to reason across compiler optimization, cache behavior, network latency, system reliability, security, and business impact.
  • Pragmatic, collaborative communication style with curiosity toward legacy systems and a commitment to incremental modernization.
