Base Salary
$180k - $215k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead the programmatic management, forecasting, and reduction of cloud spend during a Kubernetes migration.
- Migrate petabytes of data from AWS S3 to lower-cost alternative storage providers such as Backblaze B2.
- Design and maintain centralized storage client libraries and SDKs that abstract underlying storage infrastructure.
- Optimize migration of AWS Lambda and ECS workloads to EKS through benchmarking, resource right-sizing, and Reserved Instance, Savings Plan, and Spot Instance strategies.
- Build cloud capacity, spend, budgeting, and variance models in partnership with Finance.
- Develop Python and Go automation, Kubernetes operators, and Terraform-managed guardrails for tagging, scale-down, and cleanup.
- Implement cost observability, AWS Cost and Usage Report querying, KubeCost integration, and granular internal chargeback reporting.
Requirements
- 8+ years of software engineering or platform engineering experience.
- Proven ability to write clean, scalable, maintainable software in Python, Go, or Java.
- Deep hands-on experience with object storage APIs, including AWS S3 and Backblaze, and large-scale data transfer pipelines.
- Experience building client libraries, SDKs, developer abstractions, financial models, cloud spend forecasts, and capacity plans.
- Expert understanding of AWS billing, pricing models, enterprise discount programs, and scaling behavior.
- Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes and EKS compute efficiency, AWS Lambda, ECS, and Terraform.
- Strong communication and technical leadership skills across engineering, platform, and finance teams.
- Experience with Kubernetes operators or CRDs in Go, multi-petabyte migrations, KubeCost, Finout, CloudHealth, FinOps certifications, monorepos, or CI/CD practices is preferred.
