Base Salary
$135k - $215k/yr
Responsibilities
- Build resilient and secure distributed systems powering AI-driven evidence search and analysis.
- Deploy large language models, vision models, and other machine learning systems in production criminal justice settings.
- Design RAG pipelines and semantic search infrastructure for unstructured evidence data.
- Architect structured data systems, including query planning and semantic reasoning layers.
- Build and work with agentic systems that reason, plan, and take autonomous actions across investigative data.
- Take end-to-end ownership of ambiguous and emerging engineering problems.
Requirements
- Six or more years of backend engineering experience with a strong record deploying LLMs, VLMs, or other ML systems in production.
- Experience building resilient distributed systems with security as a first-class concern.
- Hands-on experience designing RAG or similar pipelines for unstructured data.
- Experience with structured data systems, query planning, semantic modeling, or structured reasoning.
- Proficiency in multiple programming languages, including Python, and comfort working across multiple infrastructure providers.
- Experience at a well-regarded engineering organization and an early-stage startup.
- Authorization to work in the United States through US citizenship or a valid work visa; visa sponsorship is not available.
- Experience with agentic AI systems or reasoning frameworks such as ReAct is a bonus.
