Base Salary
$150k - $250k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and own backend services and large-scale data and ETL pipelines.
- Architect data storage and processing solutions, including schemas, data models, query optimization, and scalable processing.
- Build and maintain APIs, messaging systems, and integration layers connecting data producers and consumers.
- Make technical decisions, define system boundaries, and translate ambiguous requirements into engineered solutions.
- Diagnose production issues, conduct root-cause analysis, and drive operational improvements.
- Improve testing, CI/CD, observability, documentation, and engineering practices.
- Communicate technical trade-offs across teams and mentor engineers through code review and collaboration.
Requirements
- At least 8 years of professional software development experience.
- Mastery of at least one major programming language such as Python, Java, Go, or C++.
- Experience architecting distributed, scalable, and fault-tolerant systems using patterns such as event-driven architecture, service decomposition, data partitioning, and caching.
- Experience building ETL/ELT pipelines with batch and streaming data and large-scale processing.
- Deep knowledge of relational databases such as PostgreSQL and MySQL, analytical or columnar stores, and SQL query optimization.
- Strong production experience with data structures, algorithms, design patterns, and software architecture.
- Experience designing clean, documented REST or gRPC APIs.
- Ability to diagnose production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and contribute to post-mortems and operational improvements.
- Openness to using AI coding agents and LLM-powered tools for code generation, review, debugging, and documentation.
- Preferred qualifications include advanced Python, concurrency, performance profiling, packaging, FastAPI or Flask, SQLAlchemy, pytest, mypy, OpenTelemetry, Grafana, ELK, Docker, GitLab CI, Jenkins, Ansible, Terraform, C++, Scala, Apache Spark, Rust, Kafka, Redis, Airflow, React, TypeScript, team leadership, financial services or quantitative finance experience, and open-source contributions or a technical portfolio.
Benefits
- Base salary range of $150,000–$250,000 USD, plus eligibility for a discretionary performance bonus and benefits.
