Senior Staff Engineer, Developer Infrastructure & Experience
Hippocratic AIResponsibilities
- Define organization-wide engineering standards and quality practices for code structure, testing, observability, and deployment.
- Own production readiness by designing software for testability, observability, incremental deployability, and safe rollback.
- Architect modular, testable systems using clean interfaces, dependency inversion, and appropriate layering.
- Own end-to-end CI/CD pipelines and release infrastructure, including canary, blue/green, and progressive delivery strategies.
- Build and steward feature-flag infrastructure and safe deployment practices for gradual rollouts and controlled experimentation.
- Improve developer velocity through better local environments, test infrastructure, build performance, linting, and inner-loop tooling.
- Use and promote AI-assisted coding, automated test generation, and LLM-assisted debugging while maintaining engineering rigor.
- Translate cross-functional requirements from ML researchers, clinical advisors, and product leaders into robust production systems.
- Treat patient safety, reliability, and incident response as core engineering concerns.
Requirements
- BS in Computer Science or equivalent.
- 12+ years of software engineering experience with production ownership at scale across multiple organizations.
- Track record of engineering judgment across multiple technology generations.
- Deep backend fluency in Python, Go, or Java, with comfort across the full stack.
- Strong knowledge of modularity, testability, separation of concerns, and dependency inversion.
- Hands-on experience building, operating, and improving production CI/CD pipelines.
- Production experience with feature flags, canary deployments, blue/green releases, and progressive rollouts.
- Demonstrated impact improving developer experience and internal tooling.
- Fluency with AI-assisted development tools, including Copilot, LLM-based code generation, and automated testing.
- Strong communication across engineering, product, and clinical stakeholders.
- Experience in healthcare, life sciences, or regulated or safety-critical industries is preferred.
- Familiarity with ML infrastructure, model serving, or LLM evaluation pipelines is preferred.
- Experience building engineering culture at a high-growth startup is preferred.
- Platform engineering or developer experience background is preferred.
- Hands-on observability experience, including structured logging, distributed tracing, and SLO design, is preferred.
