Responsibilities
- Own the platform architecture roadmap, target state, architecture standards, design principles, decision records, and review practices for a major platform domain.
- Design and build scalable, secure, cost-efficient cloud-native services, APIs, messaging flows, caching strategies, database layers, and multi-tenant architectures.
- Lead platform modernization efforts including monolith decomposition, migrations, deprecations, and technical-debt reduction.
- Drive reliability, availability, performance, observability, resilience, capacity planning, SLOs, and permanent safeguards for complex production issues.
- Write maintainable, high-performance production code, develop proof-of-concepts, conduct code reviews, and establish automated testing and CI/CD standards.
- Ensure platform designs address tenant isolation, access control, auditability, data residency, information security, and regulatory requirements.
- Guide architecture reviews and technical decisions across multiple engineering teams while mentoring senior and staff engineers and influencing long-term technology investments.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- 14+ years of experience in software engineering, platform engineering, or systems architecture in modern distributed SaaS environments.
- Expert-level, hands-on backend engineering experience with Java, Python, Go, or equivalent.
- Proven experience designing and operating enterprise-scale, multi-tenant SaaS platforms with measurable throughput, latency, availability, and failure-behavior outcomes.
- Strong knowledge of distributed-systems fundamentals including consistency, idempotency, retries, backpressure, concurrency, caching, and database optimization.
- Experience leading large-scale migrations or modernization initiatives and cross-functional architecture initiatives.
- Advanced production debugging skills involving Linux internals, profiling, log analysis, and telemetry in distributed cloud environments.
- Preferred experience with data ingestion and serving architectures, Kafka, Kinesis, Debezium, Delta Lake, Iceberg, Databricks, Snowflake, ClickHouse, OpenSearch, RAG, agentic workflows, LLM integration, FinOps, and AI/ML data architectures.
