Responsibilities
- Build, deploy, and operate critical production systems with emphasis on scalability, reliability, observability, performance, and security.
- Monitor services, respond to incidents, improve alerts, and automate alert handling.
- Create incident response runbooks, write postmortems, and implement solutions to prevent recurring incidents.
- Build automation to reduce operational toil and improve production-system operations.
- Deploy systems incrementally and in staged rollouts across global regions.
- Triage infrastructure and platform issues, support software-engineering teams, and engage third-party vendors.
- Plan and communicate production maintenance windows.
- Design and implement infrastructure and platform solutions that resolve development bottlenecks.
- Implement scalability, fault tolerance, and performance improvements for higher system availability.
- Study and apply best practices and implementation details from open-source infrastructure systems.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering plus at least five years of experience, a master’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering plus five years of experience, or equivalent work experience.
- Knowledge of Go, Python, or Bash shell scripting for medium-complexity automation workflows.
- Knowledge of Linux or UNIX administration and debugging.
- Hands-on experience operating infrastructure or complex software systems at scale.
- Experience with server provisioning, particularly storage and networking.
- Strong problem-solving and software-troubleshooting skills.
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code.
- Preferred experience includes managing PostgreSQL or equivalent relational databases, Docker and virtualization technologies, Prometheus and Grafana monitoring, Artifactory or Docker registries, GitLab or Spinnaker CI/CD systems, Terraform, and Kubernetes.
