Base Salary

Responsibilities
- Design and build software for installing, upgrading, releasing, and operating NetBox, including Kubernetes operators, controllers, internal APIs, and release tooling.
- Contribute to NetBox Core and core plugins to improve production reliability, startup performance, and Postgres query performance.
- Build observability into owned software and establish standards for testing, documentation, and SLOs.
- Own the technical direction and architecture for building, releasing, and operating NetBox Cloud and Enterprise.
- Lead and mentor engineers through design and code review without requiring formal manager authority.
- Define release contracts, drive cross-team changes through RFCs, and complete migrations across engineering teams.
- Serve as a technical escalation point during incidents and ensure postmortem actions are completed.
Requirements
- 7+ years of software development experience, including technical ownership of a production system or platform area.
- Strong Python skills and experience with production SaaS applications; Django and Postgres are preferred.
- Experience building software on Kubernetes, including operators, controllers, or deployment tooling, with knowledge of reconciliation loops, custom resources, and the Kubernetes API.
- Experience implementing observability with error reporting, distributed tracing, metrics, and structured logging, using tools such as OpenTelemetry and Sentry.
- Hands-on experience with several delivery-stack tools, including AWS, Kubernetes, Helm, GitHub Actions, ArgoCD or FluxCD, Terraform, Prometheus, and Grafana.
- Experience leading engineering work, mentoring engineers, making technical decisions under ambiguity, and driving cross-team initiatives.
- Hands-on experience building inside an AI-augmented development harness, including Claude Code and reliable agentic-tooling workflows.
- Rust or Go programming experience is a plus.
- Production Django and Postgres experience at scale, including schema design, migration risk, and query performance, is a plus.
- NetBox ecosystem, network automation, B2B startup, open source, self-managed or on-premises delivery, container build, supply chain security, vulnerability scanning, image signing, and SOC 2 build-pipeline experience are additional preferred qualifications.
