Responsibilities
- Build Tacto’s Forward Deployed Engineering function, including its charter, operating model, quality bar, and metrics.
- Hire and lead Forward Deployed Engineers and establish a high-performing team.
- Design and implement processes for scoping, embedding, building, and handing over customer engagements.
- Build hands-on in customer environments using agents, data pipelines, custom logic, and production data.
- Partner with Product and Engineering to turn customer-specific solutions into reusable platform capabilities.
- Lead complex customer escalations with Heads of Procurement and IT.
- Use AI to increase the function’s capabilities and incorporate effective practices into team operations.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience building software close to customers through forward-deployed or deployment-style engineering, technical program leadership in a product company, or engineering-heavy consulting at Manager level or above.
- Working knowledge of Python and SQL, with comfort in data pipelines and integration architecture.
- At least 1 year of experience leading engineers, or equivalent experience building something from zero and attracting people to it.
- Experience operating in ambiguous zero-to-one environments and establishing processes from scratch.
- Strong product judgment in distinguishing one-off customer needs from reusable product patterns.
- Senior customer presence, including handling C-level escalations and setting clear commitments.
- Native or C1 German and fluent English.
