Base Salary
$169k - $224k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and implement software systems that convert clinical, laboratory, and operational data into reliable, analysis-ready datasets.
- Partner with scientists, clinicians, laboratory operations, and data teams to understand data generation, transformation, and usage needs.
- Develop services, libraries, data models, and workflow components that enforce data integrity, access control, and compliance by design.
- Address schema evolution, blinding, consent, privacy compliance, data quality, testing strategy, monitoring, and operational excellence.
- Lead software engineering efforts for long-lived systems supporting active clinical and research programs.
- Mentor engineers and collaborate with scientific teams on technical and scientific outcomes.
- Contribute to documentation, onboarding, cross-functional adoption, and data literacy.
- Participate in incident response or investigations involving production data quality or availability issues.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience building production-grade software systems.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals, including system design, data modeling, API design, and well-tested production code.
- Experience building data-intensive software systems rather than only declarative pipelines or SQL-only workflows.
- Proficiency in Go, Python, or a similar general-purpose programming language.
- Experience modeling, validating, and transforming real-world data into usable formats.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Bioinformatics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Preferred experience includes 2+ years in regulated or clinical data environments such as HIPAA, CLIA, GCP, or FDA-compliant settings.
- Preferred qualifications include experience with scientific teams, laboratory or bioinformatics data, LIMS, sequencing pipelines, assay metadata, GxP practices, regulatory reporting, biotech, diagnostics, life sciences, sample tracking, data sequestration, permissioning, privacy controls, shared software libraries, or reusable tooling.
- An advanced degree in computer science, engineering, bioinformatics, or a related discipline is preferred.

- Full-time position based in Sunnyvale, California, with interview visits potentially occurring at the Menlo Park office during the headquarters transition.
