Base Salary
$207k - $300k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and develop highly scalable software and firmware systems that detect, diagnose, and mitigate reliability issues across Google’s server fleet.
- Translate hardware fault behaviors into software telemetry, diagnostic, and automated recovery mechanisms.
- Drive the technical direction for fault management, guide complex problem-solving and system design, and establish standards for reliable code.
- Collaborate with Hardware Engineering, Technical Infrastructure, and Cloud teams on next-generation compute and storage architectures.
- Architect pipelines that collect and analyze fleet-wide telemetry and turn hardware health signals into actionable insights and automated mitigation strategies.
- Collaborate with silicon vendors and shape industry standards for hardware/software co-design.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 8 years of experience programming in C++, SQL, and embedded systems.
- At least 5 years of experience testing and launching software products.
- At least 5 years of experience building large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems, networks, compute technologies, storage, or hardware architecture.
- At least 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.
- Preferred: master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- Preferred: 8 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
- Preferred: 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
- Preferred: 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional or cross-business projects.
- Preferred: experience with a business intelligence platform and SQL pipelines.
