Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimize low-level C++ embedded software for avionics systems, mission payloads, flight controllers, and embedded subsystems.
  • Port frameworks and applications to new RTOSes and hardware platforms, including creating BSPs, adapting HALs, and configuring cross-compilation toolchains for ARM Cortex-M architectures.
  • Create and integrate peripheral drivers for I2C, SPI, UART, ADC, and wireless interfaces.
  • Collaborate with hardware teams to validate secure boot, watchdog, and fault-tolerant firmware features.
  • Conduct unit and integration testing, fault injection, and MISRA C compliance checks for safety-critical applications.
  • Diagnose cross-domain issues involving embedded software, avionics hardware, networking, and RF communications in lab and operational environments.
  • Develop embedded software, test automation scripts, and integration tools using Python, C/C++, Bash, and Shell.
  • Translate mission and operational requirements into technical specifications and integration plans.
  • Design, execute, and document test plans, integration guides, test reports, and troubleshooting manuals.
  • Support internal engineering teams, manufacturing activities, simulation capabilities, deployment cycles, IRAD, and field operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Electrical, Systems, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in embedded systems development; 7+ years is preferred.
  • U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense security clearance are required.
  • Strong networking knowledge, including Ethernet, TCP/IP, VPNs, VLANs, and wireless systems.
  • Proficiency with Linux distributions including Ubuntu, CentOS, and RedHat, as well as Windows and command-line tools.
  • Extensive programming and scripting experience with Python, Bash, Shell, C, and C++.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot embedded software, avionics hardware, and RF communications.
  • Understanding of virtualization and container tools such as VMware, Docker, or Kubernetes.
  • Awareness of cybersecurity principles for embedded systems and tactical networks.
  • Strong technical writing skills for systems, procedures, and troubleshooting documentation.
  • Preferred qualifications include aerospace, DoD, manufacturing, military, spacecraft, aircraft, sUAS, or UAS platform experience.
  • Preferred experience includes system-level test plans, verification protocols, requirements traceability, MISRA C++, DO-178C, IEC 62304, ISO 26262, PX4 Autopilot, ROS, Gazebo, Unreal Engine, Unity, FAA frameworks, and UAS airworthiness certification.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and willingness to travel up to 15% domestically.
