Responsibilities
- Design and implement high-performance, scalable Java 17+ microservices with Spring Boot.
- Own API design, including versioning, idempotency, error contracts, HATEOAS, and OpenAPI specifications.
- Architect microservices using bounded contexts, saga patterns, and appropriate service decomposition.
- Implement security best practices, including OAuth2, JWT, secure coding, and vulnerability remediation.
- Build and manage event-driven systems using Apache Kafka.
- Optimize JVM, application, database, and SQL performance through tuning, caching, profiling, indexing, query analysis, and latency reduction.
- Manage distributed cloud systems on AWS and implement serverless solutions using AWS Lambda, API Gateway, and Step Functions.
- Use Python and Node.js for tooling, automation, and auxiliary services.
- Participate in on-call rotations and resolve production incidents.
- Conduct code reviews, mentor less-experienced engineers, and provide architectural guidance.
- Use AI-assisted development and automation across coding, testing, support, log analysis, and documentation workflows.
- Write code and tests, build prototypes, resolve issues, and analyze bottlenecks.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional experience building Java backend services.
- Proven experience designing and operating production microservices at scale.
- Experience with distributed systems, eventual consistency, fault tolerance, and event-driven architectures.
- Advanced proficiency with Java 17+ and modern Java features.
- Expert-level Spring Boot knowledge.
- Advanced REST API design skills, including versioning, idempotency, error contracts, and HATEOAS.
- Strong microservices architecture experience with bounded contexts, sagas, and service decomposition.
- Advanced security expertise covering OAuth2, JWT, OWASP, secure coding, and vulnerability management.
- Solid understanding of concurrency and threading, including Executors, CompletableFuture, and locking.
- Performance optimization experience involving JVM tuning, caching, profiling, and latency reduction.
- Experience with AI security and governance, including data privacy, prompt injection awareness, and safe AI usage.
- Experience with Agile/Scrum practices and a focus on continuous improvement.
