Base Salary
$186k - $256k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own Android CI pipelines and provide daily support for outages and breakages.
- Develop and manage distributed caching mechanisms to reduce CI build times and diagnose cache failures, misses, and poisoning.
- Profile build scans, identify recurring failure modes, and reduce developer context switching.
- Diagnose non-hermetic and non-deterministic build behavior and develop preventative mechanisms.
- Tune builds for containerized and cloud environments.
- Define build-tool governance and best practices across teams at large scale.
- Continuously upgrade build systems and align infrastructure with Android build ecosystem best practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Deep DevOps expertise and extensive knowledge of the Android build ecosystem.
- Proven experience with Gradle and Soong for local builds and high-reliability cloud deployments.
- Knowledge of Bazel, Buck, or similar build-system technologies.
- Experience managing build architecture at massive scale, such as hundreds of thousands of builds.
- Strong Git skills, including repo tools, submodules, and git-lfs.
- Proficiency with Linux, Bash, and Python scripting.
- Passion for build systems, CI/CD, and eliminating developer bottlenecks.
- Preferred: GitLab CI experience.
- Preferred: virtualization and containerization experience with Docker or Podman.
- Preferred: experience transitioning legacy or script-heavy pipelines to modern, scalable architectures.
