Responsibilities
- Drive storage software architecture and design across next-generation Qualcomm multiprocessor chipsets.
- Lead innovation across UFS, eMMC, SD/SDIO, NAND, SPI-NOR, NVMe, SDXpress, and related storage technologies.
- Design, develop, and support device drivers and storage frameworks across Linux, Windows, and RTOS environments.
- Own and contribute to Linux kernel storage subsystems, including block I/O, schedulers, memory-management interactions, and DMA.
- Develop file systems, flash-management layers, storage utilities, data structures, and flash algorithms.
- Drive Linux, UEFI, and Zephyr upstream and open-source contributions.
- Lead failure triage, root-cause analysis, system-level debugging, and storage issue resolution.
- Collaborate with product management, program management, hardware designers, validation teams, customer engineering, and software teams.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship while supporting people-management activities for approximately five to six engineers.
- Drive project planning, estimation, prioritization, execution tracking, delivery predictability, quality, and risk mitigation.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in ECE, EEE, CSE, or a related field.
- The role-specific qualifications require 12–14 years of experience in embedded systems and device-driver development.
- Minimum qualifications also specify a bachelor’s degree with 6+ years, a master’s degree with 5+ years, or a PhD with 4+ years of software engineering or related experience.
- At least 3 years of experience with a programming language such as C, C++, Java, or Python.
- Strong hands-on experience with UFS, eMMC, SD/SDIO, NAND, SPI-NOR, NVMe, and SDXpress.
- Deep embedded C expertise, including data structures, algorithms, file handling, multithreading, and synchronization.
- Strong OS kernel and device-driver development experience with Linux, Windows, or RTOS.
- Understanding of storage software stacks, block I/O, page cache, buffer cache, virtual memory, MMU, and DMA.
- Hands-on experience with the Linux Block Subsystem and I/O schedulers.
- Preferred experience includes Linux upstream, UEFI, Zephyr, real-time and embedded operating systems, multi-SoC platform enablement, customer-facing storage issues, and people leadership or mentoring.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.
