Responsibilities
- Lead system-level architecture across embedded devices, operating systems, applications, networking, edge platforms, and cloud integration.
- Translate customer, product, and business requirements into scalable and maintainable system architectures.
- Define system components, interfaces, data flows, deployment models, integration patterns, reference architectures, and design patterns.
- Perform technology evaluations and trade-off analyses addressing performance, scalability, reliability, availability, interoperability, and lifecycle support.
- Develop proof-of-concepts, prototypes, and reference implementations using embedded Linux, Docker containers, distributed services, and industrial communication technologies.
- Support engineering teams with architectural guidance and complex technical or system integration challenges.
- Evaluate and prototype AI and machine-learning capabilities for industrial automation, including deployment across devices, edge, on-premises, and cloud environments.
- Help establish practical, measurable AI-enabled capabilities for industrial operating environments.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
- 10+ years of relevant engineering experience, including significant system or platform architecture experience.
- Experience designing complex industrial automation, embedded, distributed, or mission-critical systems.
- Strong hands-on experience with embedded Linux and deploying Docker containers on embedded, edge, or resource-constrained platforms.
- Experience defining system components, interfaces, data flows, and deployment architectures.
- Experience building prototypes or reference implementations to validate architectural decisions.
- Ability to perform technical trade-off analysis and make practical architecture decisions.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and technical leadership skills.
- Preferred experience architecting or implementing AI and machine-learning solutions for industrial automation.
- Preferred understanding of AI model deployment, edge inference, model monitoring, and MLOps practices.
- Preferred familiarity with generative AI, retrieval-augmented generation, or industrial AI assistants.
- Preferred knowledge of secure-by-design practices, threat modeling, and IEC 62443.
