Responsibilities
- Drive technical direction, identify risks and tradeoffs, influence roadmap priorities, and set the team’s code quality bar.
- Write maintainable TypeScript/JavaScript code and architect scalable, performant web applications and APIs.
- Build integrations, data pipelines, event-driven architectures, and real-time systems for complex business workflows.
- Design and implement reliable, secure, and maintainable distributed systems while working with cloud services and infrastructure.
- Lead code reviews, unblock engineers, review designs, provide hands-on technical guidance, and mentor junior and mid-level engineers.
- Partner with Product, Design, and cross-functional stakeholders to define and prioritize work and deliver high-quality features.
- Contribute to cross-team technical initiatives with Staff and Principal Engineers.
Requirements
- 7+ years of software engineering experience with a strong focus on modern web development.
- Proven experience leading technical delivery for complex distributed systems in production and driving technical direction for a team.
- Strong full-stack development, scalable system design, and high-performance web application experience.
- Strong proficiency in TypeScript/JavaScript, React or other modern frontend frameworks, and Node.js.
- Experience with Webpack, Vite, API design and development, SQL and NoSQL databases, data modeling, Docker, Kubernetes, and distributed system patterns.
- Experience with cloud platforms, preferably GCP, and complex web applications involving large datasets.
- Ability to drive technical direction without direct management authority, communicate with diverse audiences, translate business needs into technical solutions, and provide constructive feedback.
- Preferred qualifications include startup or high-growth company experience, logistics or supply chain experience, OMS/WMS/TMS experience, state management libraries, testing frameworks, WebSockets or Server-Sent Events, Kafka or RabbitMQ, observability tools, PWAs, and web performance optimization.
