Base Salary

$224k - $431k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Architect and implement SoC power and thermal control software modules.
  • Establish software architecture for power and thermal management on next-generation platforms.
  • Lead root-cause analysis and resolution of complex, multi-team power and thermal issues.
  • Define and drive software corrective-action plans across future product generations.
  • Own end-to-end software work addressing power usage and thermal control for a Client SoC product line.
  • Drive platform power and thermal goals across firmware, kernel, driver, and OEM-facing software teams.
  • Track program-level software status, risks, and mitigations and communicate them to engineering leadership.
  • Serve as the primary software technical interface to SoC partners on power and thermal topics.
  • Collaborate with ecosystem partners and OEM engineering teams on platform power and thermal features and issues.
  • Represent the power and thermal software team in leadership reviews, program syncs, and executive communications.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of industry experience in system software, including at least 5+ years focused on SoC or platform power management software.
  • Deep expertise in SoC, GPU, and CPU power management, including C-states, SoC low-power states, DVFS, power gating, clock gating, and platform power limits.
  • Demonstrated ownership and delivery of power and thermal software goals on real products from pre-silicon architecture through post-launch optimization.
  • Proven ability to align engineering teams, SoC and silicon partners, OS and platform vendors, and OEM partners.
  • Proficiency in C and a strong background in operating-system internals, device drivers, real-time embedded operating systems, and low-level hardware/software interfaces.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for explaining complex technical tradeoffs to engineering leadership and business partners.
  • Bachelor of Science or higher in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Extensive SoC power and thermal management software experience is preferred.
  • Experience with Linux and Windows platform power management is preferred.
  • Prior cross-company partnership defining firmware/software power interfaces is preferred.
  • Familiarity with platform telemetry pipelines for power and thermal monitoring and self-host/battery-life data analysis is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of Rest-of-Platform power optimization is preferred.
