Responsibilities
- Design and build AI agents that initiate, process, and complete end-to-end payment transactions.
- Translate payment requirements into agent workflows, business rules, APIs, and system integrations.
- Design configurable solutions for market-specific payment requirements and variations.
- Define architecture for agent orchestration, transaction state management, tool and API invocation, exception handling, retries, and recovery.
- Integrate agents with payment platforms, gateways, transaction-processing systems, APIs, and enterprise services.
- Develop primarily with Python, LLMs, and agent frameworks.
- Implement security, authorization, auditability, observability, guardrails, evaluation, and human-in-the-loop controls.
- Lead end-to-end testing and demonstrate successful transactions in each target market.
- Provide hands-on technical leadership, conduct design and code reviews, mentor engineers, and own the end-to-end technical solution.
Requirements
- 10+ years of software engineering experience, including architecture and technical leadership.
- Strong hands-on Python development experience.
- Proven experience designing and building LLM/GenAI applications and AI agents.
- Strong understanding of payments, transaction processing, payment lifecycles, and market-specific payment ecosystems.
- Experience with payment APIs, gateways, transaction-processing platforms, or payment services.
- Strong experience with distributed systems, cloud platforms, enterprise integrations, event-driven architectures, and REST APIs.
- Experience with agent orchestration, tool or function calling, structured outputs, LLM integration, AI guardrails, evaluation, observability, and human-in-the-loop controls.
- Experience with LangGraph, LangChain, CrewAI, or equivalent agent frameworks.
- Ability to determine where AI should be used versus deterministic rules within payment workflows.
- Preferred experience with authorization, clearing, settlement, reconciliation, fraud or risk, disputes, exception management, Kafka, or other event-streaming technologies.
