Responsibilities
- Architect and implement components of the mission-critical observability platform for performance, scalability, cost efficiency, and resiliency.
- Design observability improvements that help engineers and customers diagnose production issues.
- Write and improve production-ready database code, maintain owned code areas, and uphold security, durability, availability, performance, and maintainability standards.
- Handle production customer escalations, participate in on-call, and coach teammates on issue resolution.
- Diagnose test failures, fix bugs, prevent regressions, and investigate performance impacts of code changes.
- Mentor engineers, conduct interviews for advanced software engineering roles, and champion unit and integration testing.
- Lead development and project management for large company-wide projects and collaborate with Product Management and engineering leadership on roadmaps and technical direction.
- Develop expertise in database and observability developments and lead the long-term technical roadmap for the Observability Team.
Requirements
- Minimum 10 years of experience designing, programming, debugging, and tuning distributed or highly concurrent mission-critical software systems.
- Expert-level programming ability in C, C++, Java, or Rust, with strong systems fundamentals including multithreaded programming and performance profiling.
- Experience running latency-sensitive, high-throughput systems.
- Familiarity with database internals or building core components for data processing systems; indexing or database performance tuning is a plus.
- Familiarity with observability ecosystems and best practices.
- Strong technical communication, collaboration, mentoring, time management, and project estimation skills.
- Understanding of information security management.
