Responsibilities
- Provide technical thought leadership in collaboration with architecture and development teams.
- Design, implement, and maintain infrastructure as code for development and production environments.
- Design and maintain observability and monitoring solutions while monitoring system health and maintaining uptime and performance SLAs.
- Design and maintain continuous delivery systems and advise development teams on resiliency, operability, and engineering best practices.
- Design, implement, and maintain Kubernetes clusters with advanced configuration and features.
- Design, implement, and maintain Kafka clusters with advanced configuration and features.
- Identify points of failure and recommend solutions.
Requirements
- 5+ years of relevant DevOps experience in a SaaS environment.
- Expertise in distributed systems, including load balancing, distributed messaging, and distributed databases.
- Expertise with software configuration management and tools such as Chef, Puppet, and Ansible.
- Expertise with cloud platforms, primarily AWS.
- Expertise with automated deployment methodologies supporting CI/CD; Jenkins or GitHub Actions preferred.
- Experience administering Kubernetes clusters using VPA/HPA, KEDA, Karpenter, service mesh, and multiple node groups.
- Experience administering Kafka clusters, including disaster recovery, data loss prevention, and topic sizing for variable loads.
- Experience with Windows and Linux systems and tools.
- Prior professional application development experience focused on SaaS applications and web development.
- Knowledge of IP networking, including TCP, UDP, firewalls, and TLS.
- Knowledge of software engineering and design principles, including design patterns, architectural patterns, CAP Theorem, and event-driven architecture.
- Security-minded approach at all levels.
- Nice-to-have experience with NGINX, Redis, API gateways, NoSQL or Big Data technologies, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, C#, and .NETCore.
