Base Salary
$142k - $189k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, implement, and analyze backend APIs, data layers, and application services for video streaming products.
- Build video ingestion, content scheduling, catalog export, metadata, and recommendation pipelines, including ETL workflows.
- Design system architectures, data workflows, database schemas, API access patterns, service integrations, and error-handling mechanisms.
- Deploy and manage backend services in Google Cloud, AWS, and other cloud environments using Kubernetes and Docker.
- Collaborate with product, operations, server, client, and cross-functional teams to define requirements and scalable technical solutions.
- Create technical documentation, system diagrams, integration plans, test cases, and integration tests.
- Build monitoring and alerting for live APIs and services and maintain backend operational stability.
- Repair, restore, and repave backend services while addressing defects, enhancements, and security vulnerabilities.
- Work a variable schedule, including nights and weekends when necessary.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience building Java backend servers.
- At least 5 years of experience building web service APIs using REST or SOAP and HTTP/SSL protocols.
- At least 5 years of experience operating MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, or MongoDB databases.
- At least 5 years of experience working with Linux-based operating systems, including CentOS or OSX.
- Strong experience developing Docker-based microservices on Kubernetes.
- Strong experience operating servers in Google Cloud, AWS, or Azure.
- Strong technical leadership and solution-design skills for new features and problem solving.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and produce high-quality output.
- Preferred experience manipulating video content, metadata, caption files, and video format files.
- Preferred knowledge of HLS, MP4, and MPEG-DASH video formats.
- Preferred experience developing scalable and highly available applications.
- Preferred experience with RabbitMQ or Kafka message queue transactions.
- Preferred experience with content recommendation systems.
- Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent coursework, experience, or extensive related professional experience may also be considered.

- Base pay range is $141,860.82-$189,147.75 USD for work performed in California.

- Non-sales positions may be eligible for a bonus, and total rewards include additional benefits described on the company careers site.
- Position is office-based in Irvine, CA or Philadelphia, PA, with four days onsite and one day remote.
- The role may require nights, weekends, and variable schedules.
