Responsibilities
- Design and develop enterprise backend services, microservices, and APIs using Java, J2EE, Spring Boot, RxJava, JPA, and Hibernate.
- Deliver solutions across design, implementation, testing, delivery, and operations while coordinating reliable production releases.
- Develop API-first solutions with OpenAPI/Swagger and RESTful service design.
- Build automated unit and functional tests, including with TestNG, and support test-data generation and engineering automation.
- Deploy applications on GCP using Docker, Kubernetes, GitHub, Harness, and related CI/CD and DevOps tools.
- Optimize application performance through caching, query optimization, database tuning, and distributed caching with Redis.
- Work with relational and NoSQL data stores and messaging technologies such as Kafka and RabbitMQ.
- Troubleshoot defects and performance bottlenecks and support production system reliability.
- Guide junior engineers, advise management on project-level issues, and collaborate with Product, UI/UX, QA, DevOps, and engineering partners.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of relevant experience and a bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Preferred 7+ years of software development experience, including significant hands-on enterprise Java development.
- Experience with Spring/Spring Boot, Hibernate/JPA, REST APIs, Maven, and open-source Java libraries.
- Experience designing enterprise-scale backend services, microservices, and APIs, with knowledge of software design patterns and modern application architecture.
- Experience with GCP or comparable cloud platforms, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD tools such as Harness, and GitHub.
- Experience with relational and NoSQL databases, database design, query optimization, and performance tuning.
- Experience with automated testing frameworks and unit and functional testing practices.
- Experience with Redis or comparable distributed caching technologies and Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar messaging systems.
- Experience with OpenAPI/Swagger and specification-driven development.
- Experience using AI coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot or Claude Code; familiarity with MCPs and AI application development is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
