Base Salary
$366k - $380k/yr
Responsibilities
- Set technical direction across the Work Graph, data model, APIs, extensibility layer, and shared platform experiences.
- Own architecture and drive high-stakes, long-term initiatives spanning the R&D organization, Security, and Legal.
- Set standards for platform design, interfaces, separation of concerns, reliability, and functional guarantees.
- Make build-versus-buy, vendor, replatforming, and cross-pillar technical decisions.
- Incorporate AI-agent capabilities and enterprise governance considerations into platform strategy.
- Mentor staff and senior staff engineers and create broader scopes for technical leaders.
- Represent Asana platform engineering through external talks and writing and support senior-engineering recruiting.
Requirements
- 12+ years building production software, including experience setting technical direction across a large organization or multiple organizations.
- Experience building platforms used by other engineering teams at significant scale, where architectural decisions must remain effective over multiple years.
- Deep experience with distributed systems and large shared data models, including enterprise performance and reliability requirements.
- Experience leading at least one major replatforming or migration while continuing to serve customers.
- Ability to communicate with engineers and executives and translate between technical and business concerns.
- Experience growing staff and senior staff engineers into larger scopes.
- Experience with multi-tenant enterprise SaaS and security and data governance for AI systems is preferred.
- Curiosity about AI tools and emerging technologies and willingness to use them to improve productivity, collaboration, or decision-making.
- Strong collaboration skills and ability to foster an inclusive culture.
