Responsibilities
- Lead the hands-on design and development of a developer tooling solution for modernizing legacy applications using Moderne and OpenRewrite.
- Build, test, and maintain custom Java OpenRewrite recipes for automated refactoring across multiple codebases.
- Develop dashboards, reports, and user-facing capabilities to drive adoption and measure modernization outcomes.
- Collaborate with vendors and internal engineering teams on solution design, standards, onboarding, and usage.
- Provide technical leadership through design reviews, code reviews, mentoring, and engineering standards.
- Evaluate solution options and trade-offs, document architectural decisions, and drive implementation across the organization.
- Support the production platform by diagnosing issues and partnering with the central SRE team on operational management and reliability improvements.
Requirements
- Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
- 10–14 years of professional experience.
- Strong Java full-stack engineering experience with modern frameworks such as Spring Boot, Vert.x, Helidon, Angular, or Node.js.
- Hands-on experience with OpenRewrite and/or large-scale codebase modernization, including custom recipe development; Moderne OpenRewrite experience is desirable.
- Experience with relational and NoSQL databases, database design and management, and analytics-style reporting use cases.
- Strong engineering fundamentals, including analytical problem-solving, structured troubleshooting, SOLID principles, and architectural practices.
- Experience serving as a technical lead, influencing design direction, guiding engineers, and driving cross-team alignment.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins pipelines, Prometheus, Grafana, and scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or Groovy.
- Clear spoken and written English communication and the ability to work effectively with minimal supervision and across vendor and engineering teams.
