Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, testing, documentation, support, and modernization of complex enterprise software systems and integrations.
  • Serve as the primary subject matter expert for IBM iSeries application development, RPG, AS400, legacy-system behavior, and operational dependencies.
  • Lead Level 3 triage, root-cause analysis, incident resolution, and corrective actions for business-critical production systems.
  • Provide technical leadership across multiple engineering teams and influence architecture, engineering standards, modernization plans, and long-term technical direction.
  • Diagnose complex issues involving IBM i applications, batch jobs, interfaces, APIs, integrations, and downstream systems.
  • Support inventory management, operations, product lifecycle, commercial-account, and transaction-sensitive business processes.
  • Collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders to translate business and operational needs into scalable, maintainable solutions.
  • Evaluate secure coding practices, engineering tools, AI and emerging technologies, observability, reliability, and operational improvement opportunities.
  • Document technical designs, system behaviors, operational dependencies, and support procedures.
  • Mentor engineers and facilitate technical reviews, design sessions, peer learning, and knowledge sharing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least 6 years of experience developing, supporting, and maintaining enterprise-scale software solutions.
  • At least 6 years of experience with IBM i systems and RPG development.
  • At least 6 years of experience with Python.
  • At least 4 years of experience supporting complex integrations and operationally critical business systems.
  • At least 4 years of experience troubleshooting highly complex production issues and leading Level 3 support activities.
  • Experience with AI technologies for software development lifecycle and daily engineering activities.
  • Experience supporting mission-critical applications in high-pressure operational environments, including transaction-sensitive workflows.
  • Strong understanding of software architecture, secure coding practices, software development lifecycle, stakeholder management, and communication with technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Preferred qualifications include 10+ years of RPG and Python engineering, legacy IBM i modernization, cloud-native or distributed architecture integration, observability, automation, DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering practices, inventory and vehicle operations, mentoring, and emerging-technology implementation.
