Responsibilities
- Design scalable solutions for a federal health data platform across cloud, on-premises, and government-hosted environments.
- Translate mission, business, data, security, and operational requirements into technical designs and target-state architectures.
- Design integrations across defense and federal health systems using APIs, pipelines, shared services, and reusable data products.
- Apply reference architectures, integration patterns, technical standards, and architectural guardrails.
- Evaluate technical options, dependencies, risks, security, scalability, performance, reliability, maintainability, cost, and delivery considerations.
- Support Databricks and cloud services across AWS, Azure, Oracle Cloud, and hybrid infrastructure.
- Participate in technical discovery and architecture discussions with engineers, technical leaders, customers, and mission stakeholders.
- Create and maintain architecture diagrams, interface definitions, design documentation, decision records, and technical roadmaps.
- Collaborate with Data Engineers and Technical Leads to resolve technical challenges and align implementations with platform architecture.
- Communicate technical decisions and recommendations to technical and nontechnical audiences while building trusted customer relationships.
Requirements
- 3-10+ years of experience in solutions architecture, data architecture, software engineering, platform engineering, data engineering, or a related technical field.
- Experience with enterprise data platforms, distributed systems, data ingestion, transformation, storage, APIs, or data products.
- Experience in cloud or hybrid-cloud environments and integrating modern and legacy systems.
- Working knowledge of data modeling, metadata, lineage, data quality, or data governance.
- Ability to address security, availability, performance, scalability, reliability, and operational support in technical designs.
- Experience creating architecture diagrams, interface designs, technical documentation, decision records, or implementation roadmaps.
- Experience collaborating with engineers and technical leaders to implement complex solutions.
- Familiarity with software engineering practices, development lifecycles, and Git-based workflows.
- Strong communication, investigation, problem-solving, and ambiguity-navigation skills.
- U.S. citizenship and an active DoW Secret or higher clearance, per client requirements.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field is preferred.
- Experience with Databricks, Apache Spark, AWS, Microsoft Azure, Oracle Cloud, Palantir Foundry, Advana, large datasets, regulated government environments, or AI/ML solution components is preferred.
