Responsibilities
- Act as the primary technical and consultative engineering lead for the client engagement.
- Work directly with stakeholders to discover business problems, workflows, constraints, and technical requirements.
- Lead discovery sessions, technical workshops, design sessions, and architecture reviews.
- Design and guide data architecture using PostgreSQL and Snowflake, including data modeling, data flows, and system integration.
- Evolve the prototype architecture into a secure, scalable, production-ready platform.
- Make architectural decisions across backend services, APIs, data, integrations, infrastructure, security, and reliability.
- Write production-quality Python services and APIs as needed.
- Collaborate with platform, data, backend, and optimization engineers to establish technical direction.
- Define the roadmap from prototype through MVP and production.
- Identify and communicate technical risks, gaps, dependencies, and trade-offs.
- Establish production engineering practices for observability, security, deployment, reliability, and maintainability.
- Own delivery outcomes and transfer technical knowledge to the client’s engineering teams.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in software engineering, solutions architecture, or a closely related technical discipline.
- Senior-level ownership of production systems and strong hands-on Python backend and API experience.
- Strong system design and architecture skills, including production-grade distributed systems.
- Experience converting a prototype, proof of concept, or MVP into a production system.
- Experience working directly with clients or business stakeholders to discover requirements and shape solutions.
- Experience leading technical discussions, workshops, design sessions, or architecture reviews with senior stakeholders.
- Ability to translate business requirements into technical architecture and implementation plans.
- Strong understanding of scalability, reliability, security, observability, deployment, and data architecture.
- Ability to combine consultative architecture work with hands-on implementation.
- Strong written and spoken English communication skills.
- Comfort working in a client-facing, ambiguous environment with evolving requirements.
- Healthcare, HIPAA, or PHI experience is preferred.
- Workforce management, staffing, scheduling, HRIS, ERP, EMR/EHR, or scheduling-system integration experience is preferred.
- Experience with Workday, UKG/Kronos, Oracle, optimization or ML systems is preferred.
- Experience with OR-Tools, Gurobi, OptaPlanner, XGBoost, or SciPy is preferred.
- Previous Forward Deployed Engineer, Solutions Architect, Solutions Engineer, or Staff Engineer experience is preferred.
- Experience mentoring or transferring technical knowledge through pairing, workshops, or documentation is preferred.
