Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain backend services and highly concurrent asynchronous workflows for virtual machine provisioning, placement, and lifecycle management.
- Integrate control planes with KVM, QEMU, and host virtualization layers to manage compute resources, block storage attachments, and virtual networking context.
- Build and operate scalable gRPC and REST APIs connecting compute orchestration engines, host metadata services, and internal infrastructure platforms.
- Collaborate on host infrastructure supporting high-density hyperthreading, autoscaling policies, and customer SLA guarantees.
- Drive code reviews, comprehensive testing, and technical design documentation.
- Monitor system performance, investigate control-plane bottlenecks, and maintain reliable compute orchestration systems.
Requirements
- 5+ years of software engineering experience building highly concurrent, fault-tolerant distributed systems.
- Deep proficiency in Python and Go, or strong C++/Java experience with willingness to quickly learn Python and Go.
- Hands-on experience with durable workflow orchestration engines for distributed state, hardware scheduling, and long-running asynchronous tasks.
- Working knowledge of virtualization, hypervisors, containerization, or low-level system isolation technologies such as KVM, QEMU, libvirt, Docker, or microVMs.
- Experience building resilient APIs and handling high-throughput telemetry, control-plane signals, or message streams.
- Understanding of host resource scheduling, storage and network virtualization trade-offs, and multi-tenant infrastructure architecture.
- Strong ownership, communication, and collaboration skills for working in a globally distributed team.
