Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and provide hands-on technical direction to approximately 5–6 Quality Engineers.
- Design, build, maintain, and evolve reusable API and integration automation frameworks and libraries.
- Define and implement automation-first, risk-based quality strategies, standards, quality gates, and coverage roadmaps.
- Test REST APIs, microservices, event-driven flows, databases, downstream integrations, and critical payment journeys.
- Integrate automated suites into CI/CD pipelines or scheduled execution processes.
- Establish team practices for estimation, resource allocation, code review, defect triage, reporting, and delivery.
- Track automation coverage, suite reliability, regression duration, defect leakage, test debt, release risk, and mitigation progress.
- Provide evidence-based release-readiness recommendations and drive continuous improvement in test effectiveness, execution speed, observability, and maintainability.
Requirements
- Progressive experience in Quality Engineering, software testing, or test automation for enterprise applications.
- Demonstrated technical leadership of Quality Engineers or SDETs while remaining hands-on.
- Strong experience testing APIs, microservices, distributed systems, and complex integrations.
- Proficiency in Java-based test automation using REST Assured and JUnit or TestNG, or equivalent enterprise-grade frameworks.
- Hands-on experience with Postman and automated collection execution using Newman or equivalent tooling.
- Experience with OpenAPI or Swagger, API contract validation, Git-based workflows, and CI/CD integration.
- Ability to estimate work, decompose testing scope, allocate tasks, manage dependencies, and communicate delivery risk.
- Experience with Kafka or other event-driven architectures and asynchronous processing.
- Experience with Testcontainers, contract testing, service virtualization, and test data management.
- Experience with performance and resiliency tools such as JMeter, k6, LoadRunner, or equivalents.
- Experience with observability platforms such as Splunk, Dynatrace, or comparable tools.
- Working knowledge of Cucumber or BDD for selected business-critical end-to-end journeys.
- Experience supporting API certification, governance, security testing, or penetration-testing readiness.
- Experience in banking, payments, money movement, financial services, or another highly regulated environment is preferred.
