Base Salary

$99k - $225k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Lead design and delivery for modernization workstreams involving large legacy Java applications.
  • Develop production-ready software using Java, Spring Boot, Hibernate or JPA, RESTful web services, and modern JavaScript frameworks.
  • Establish standards for code quality, testing, CI/CD, production readiness, architecture, and scalability.
  • Lead or co-lead migrations from monolithic legacy applications to modular services or modern frameworks.
  • Mentor developers, own code review quality, and drive technical decisions and delivery accountability.
  • Own the production support escalation path for critical issues and provide issue resolution.
  • Evaluate emerging tools and techniques and recommend system improvements.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in software development.
  • 6+ years of experience with Java, including Spring Boot, Hibernate or JPA, and RESTful web services.
  • 4+ years of experience leading engineers through mentoring, code review ownership, and delivery accountability.
  • 3+ years of experience with a modern JavaScript framework such as React.js, Vue, or Angular.js, including responsive and accessible UI development.
  • Experience leading or co-leading modernization or migration of large legacy Java applications.
  • Experience with database design and writing and optimizing SQL using Oracle or PostgreSQL.
  • Experience with J2EE, JSP, or Servlets, including migration strategies, production support, and issue resolution.
  • Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, AWS or Azure, Git, CI/CD pipelines, and Jenkins.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness determination.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Preferred experience includes Atlassian tools, Jira, Confluence, Selenium, JUnit, JavaScript testing libraries, stored procedures, advanced database performance tuning, and federal health agencies such as FDA, NIH, or HHS.
