Base Salary
$140k - $170k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own the architecture, reliability, performance, and scalability of backend systems for consumer-facing web applications.
- Design, build, and maintain scalable APIs and backend services across distributed or microservices architectures.
- Contribute to full-stack architecture involving React, Next.js, Node.js, Contentful, and AWS infrastructure.
- Optimize Contentful content modeling and editorial workflows.
- Improve CI/CD pipelines, deployment processes, monitoring, observability, and production reliability.
- Apply AWS security, governance, IAM least-privilege, private S3, and secrets-management practices.
- Establish engineering standards and scalable design patterns.
- Mentor, supervise, coach, and provide performance guidance to software engineers.
- Partner with product, design, and business stakeholders on technical solutions.
- Support sprint planning, technical estimation, roadmap development, and hiring.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
- 7+ years of full-stack software engineering experience with a clear backend focus and demonstrated architectural responsibility.
- Experience mentoring software engineers and preferably supervising, coaching, and developing engineers.
- Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, PHP, Node.js, and preferably NestJS.
- Experience designing and consuming APIs in distributed or microservices architectures.
- Experience with JWT/OIDC authentication, Auth0 or equivalent, and passport-jwt/JWKS patterns.
- Experience with relational and NoSQL databases, including schema design, query optimization, multi-environment deployments, and preferably operational MongoDB.
- Experience with Docker and AWS ECS container orchestration, including task definitions, logging, and ECR.
- Working knowledge of AWS Amplify, API Gateway, ALB/NLB, S3, EFS, CloudWatch, X-Ray, IAM, and VPC.
- Experience with Terraform, Terragrunt, GitHub Actions, and GitHub OIDC for cloud automation and secure deployments.
- Experience with observability, production operations, logs, metrics, alarms, distributed tracing, and troubleshooting.
- Experience with unit, integration, and end-to-end testing using Jest, plus linting and formatting standards.
- Experience integrating headless CMS platforms with modern frontend frameworks.
- Preferred experience includes Contentful, Drupal, WordPress, Turborepo, pnpm, monorepos, Storybook, design systems, Zod, OpenAPI tooling, CloudPosse Terraform modules, MongoDB and Node.js performance tuning, EFS stateful containers, Checkov, and Terraform security scanning.
